Dr. Gail Sanders Durgin
Dr. Gail Sanders Durgin, Ph.D. has been helping people and changing lives since 2000 in her field of expertise, Neurofeedback. Her career began with a Masters degree in Therapeutic Recreation from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1972. She worked for the State of New York for 18 years in various positions in mental health and mental retardation including being a direct service therapist, therapy supervisor, treatment team manager, and regional director of training for a variety of professionals working with developmentally disabled clients. She became interested in Neurofeedback because her own children had Attention Deficit Disorder and she was unable to find the appropriate treatment to assist one of her children. Using Neurofeedback training, both her children were able to discontinue their medication and her child with additional issues was able to resolve her symptoms.
After completing her doctorate in 1998 from New York University, Dr. Durgin soon began her training in Neurofeedback. After finishing her initial training, Dr. Durgin studied with Dr. Barry Sterman, Ph.D., the discoverer of Neurofeedback. He mentored her personally for over two years while she was learning EEG Quantitative Analysis. She continues to study with him to this day.
Since opening Neurofeedback Associates in Greensboro, North Carolina in 2000, Dr. Durgin continues to provide Neurofeedback and Biofeedback services. She has written several articles and has been referenced in two published Neurofeedback books.
Dr. Durgin is certified in EEG Biofeedback as an Associate Fellow by the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America. She is credentialed by SABA (The Society for Advanced Brain Analysis). She is a member of several professional associations including SABA, the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research, the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback as well as the North Carolina Biofeedback Society.
Dr. Durgin is a Licensed Recreational Therapist by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure as well as a certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. She is also a Certified Stress Management Trainer, a Certified Hypnotherapist by the National Association of Transpersonal Hypnotherapists and a Certified Reiki Practitioner.
Frequently attending training seminars all over the world to enhance her skills and to keep abreast of new developments in the field, Dr. Durgin has made presentations at several International conferences on Neurofeedback. She has attended training presentations and workshops with many of the leading professionals in the field of Neurofeedback. She has given a number of presentations in Greensboro, North Carolina and makes speaking engagements upon request. She is also available to give training sessions on a variety of topics.
