Success Stories
My life was upside down until I began neurofeedback with Dr. Durgin. I don't know how it began or how I got to the point I was at, but what I did know was that I needed help. I was severely depressed, more than I knew. I started cutting people out of my life and didn't like to go out. I would cry often because I felt so sad and I could never find a reason to actually be sad. I went to a medical doctor who prescribed me anti-depressants. The anti-depressants rid me of the feelings of depression, but they also made my life void of other emotions. I was just coasting through life on auto-pilot feeling nothing and caring about nothing. I also had a long term problem, since elementary school I had a hard time remembering what I studied. I saw a learning disabilities specialist who told me I was border-line ADD. She recommended that I would just have to work harder at retaining information. She said that when I entered college I should consider medication. My parents hired a tutor who taught me special techniques to help retain information, but school remained a constant struggle for me. When I did enter college this problem was catching up to me. I was tired of trying so hard and getting the results I deserved for my hard work. My depression worsened and I stopped attending class and my grades plummeted. I didn't want to turn to another medication. I didn't want any medications at all. There had to be another way to solve my problems. That's when I found Dr. Durgin and I found that answers I had been looking for my whole life.
I spent a year with Dr. Durgin, going to sessions twice a week. First we worked on my depression. The process was slow, but the results were beyond I could have ever imagined. Today I have no signs of depression and I no longer take anti-depressant medication. My outlook has changed drastically. I love life! I had no idea that such happiness could exist in my life. I no longer cry for no reason and I never feel sad for not reason. I no longer feel like I'm on autopilot and I'm free to experience my wide range of emotions. Next, Dr. Durgin helped me with my memory problem. As explained by Dr. Durgin, there were parts of my brain that weren't communicating with each other, leading to my memory problem. Dr. Durgin led me through exercises that corrected those areas of my brain so that they were in full communication again. The function of my brain increased and my memory was normal if not better! I began taking college classes again and my ability to retain information was obviously improved. My grades became excellent and I didn't have to struggle to make such great grades. After my sessions with Dr. Durgin ended, my life has continued to be transformed and I have had no signs of regression. I have been able to complete my education at University. My social life improved and I have a great set of friends, and I am engaged to be married! Dr. Durgin gave me a life to live and now my future choices are not limited to my past problems, thanks to her.

When I retired in November of 2001, I worked with Neurofeedback specialist Dr. Gail Sanders Durgin. She related that some of her colleagues who are Neurofeedback practitioners were working with athletes from average golfers to Olympic athletes.
The purpose of my Neurofeedback sessions was to enhance my focus and conscious awareness. When I saw the difference this approach made with other golfers and tennis players, I thought this type of training would improve my performance. Through enjoyable 1-hour sessions a couple times a week, I progressed.
I feel the Neurofeedback training has greatly improved my focus and conscious awareness. As a result, I am much more aware of each situation on the course. Now I make a conscious plan to hit the shot required - not just step up and swing with no plan; or focus on the results of the last shot, as many frustrated golfers do. It also enabled me to visualize the upcoming shot much more clearly.
Primarily because of this improvement in my approach to the game, I have experienced significant improvement in my game, particularly my putting, chipping, and pitching. These are the three most critical areas of the game if you want to improve your scoring, whether you are a scratch golfer or a duffer.
I highly recommend to anyone who wants to make a significant improvement in their golf game to take Neurofeedback training. If you combine this training with good basic fundamentals, you will have a very good chance of improving your game and make golf even more fun.
